Over 20 years ago a Sicilian man left his life in the city to live in an abandoned building on top of Monte Gallo. He changed his name to Israel and dedicated his life to Judaism.
Israel lives as a hermit, slowly decorating his magnificent sanctuary. The themes in his mosaics are the from the book of revelation, the apocalypse, the struggle between good and evil, sacrifice and redemption.
